Wasatch Royal Companions Breeders

Howdy! We're so glad you dropped by this section to get to know us a little better. Here we hope you are able to connect with us and understand who we are at WRC. This program was originally started with a shared love of dogs, specifically English Cream Golden Retrievers, between two family household. Sarah and Brandon, Maggie's humans, and Dennis and Cara, Hope and Holly's hostages.

First and foremost we want stress that we are an ethical and responsible breeder who takes the creation of puppies seriously. In today's world you can throw together any dog, I'm looking at you Doodles, and make all these wild claims of how wonderful they are; when in reality that's not true at all. Just to be clear we love ALL dogs, truly, but we don't love the irresponsible breeding practices of creating a designer dog. How we differ from other breeders is that we thoroughly test our parents to make sure they are even worthy of continuing a line. If our dog isn't clear or has any abnormalities then we will not continue that line, simple as that! We follow all American Kennel Club (AKC), Orthopedic Foundation of Animals (OFA), and Golden Retriever Club of America health screening recommendations; as well as additional testing through Embark. *Links to sites provided below. We care deeply about the placement of our puppies and meticulously assess each applicant. We started this endeavor with a promise that we would NEVER artificially inseminate our bitches. We believe in a natural approach to these puppies creation and are not in the business of cranking out puppies to turn a profit. We pour an endless amount of love and time into our dogs to create the best family companion for you.

What kind of training do you do?

By the time your puppy arrives to you they will have a solid knowledge of crate training, potty training, and basic commands. We include these invaluable tools into our curriculum as a bonus to help assimilate your new puppy into their new home. We will provide you with the techniques and mastered commands before your puppy is delivered to you so that you are fully prepared. A well trained puppy makes for one happy owner. Please note: the puppy is not FULLY trained, but is accustom to these traits from an early age. Additional training and constant practice of these training techniques are highly encouraged. We cannot work with your puppy to build a relationship of trust and understanding in place of you, but rather introduce them to this knowledge.

What kind of desensitization do you do?

From Day 1 we start our puppies on Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI). We also practice various desensitization with our puppies some of which include: blow dryer, door bells, car alarms, pots dropping, fireworks, vacuums, and (my personal favorite) a house full of rowdy kids. Our puppies are exposed to endless contact and everyday noises. We also have the ability to expose older puppies to various animals and smells that accompany them. This assist in your puppy becoming accustomed to other animals and a familiarity of beings larger or different from them.

What kind of socialization will the puppy have?

As we mentioned above, your puppy is exposed to numerous situations with kids, animals, and normal life experiences. We participate in the: 100 People in 100 Days days of life. By the time your puppy goes home with you, they will be well socialized and ready to acclimate into your family dynamic.

Do you artificially inseminate your dogs?

First of all, EW! Second, no we do not practice AI with our bitches. We believe in a natural and ethical approach in contrast to forcefully impregnating a bitch to have a higher litter count or to even have a litter at all. Mother nature knows best and as a result our very first litter was exceptionally high, but not uncommon, even by breed standards.

Do you participate in Guardian Homes?

The short answer is no, we do not believe in that kind of lack of ownership. For a more detailed response, please read the section specifically titled Guardian Homes below.

Can you deliver my puppy to me?

Absolutely! We have various families across the United States that we offer this service to. The service is provided given the new family will cover the cost of the handler and puppy's airfare. We are able to meet you at the airport or another desired location (again at the expense of the new family). If this is something you may require, please indicate as soon as possible so that we can make arrangements with our own families to provide this service.

Brandon and Sarah- Brandon and his parents, Dennis and Cara, have a long history of working on their family farm. Brandon grew up with a love of animals and numerous family dogs. After meeting Sarah and realizing she came with two dogs, he mistakenly informed her that he, "Would never have inside dogs.. only outside dogs". Little did he realize who he was conversing with. Long story short, he never stood a chance. Brandon quickly became accustomed to the happiness a dog brings when they are integrated as part of your family. He will claim amnesia, but he once told Sarah shortly after they were married that he loved having them inside and it made him happy to come home and see their dumb faces excitedly greeting you. Brandon has worked in Human Resource Software for a number of years. He currently is a Outside Sales Rep for a home insulation and garage door company, 5 Star. He is happiest when he is spending time fishing with his kids, exercising, going on long walks with Maggie, playing basketball/softball, or just spending quality time with family. He told me to add, "Spending time with my wife..", to which I rolled my eyes at, because I know good and well he's buttering me up. I know his games. Next he'll ask me if he can invest in his 532nd pair of basketball shoes.

Growing up Sarah had various breeds of dogs and developed an intense love for all animals. Ever passionate and true to her Southern roots, she is known for being fiercely protective; served with a side of sass. High energy and an extrovert personality, Sarah enjoys meeting people and forming lasting relationships. Although after meeting Brandon she was not an immediate fan of his (details provided to those nosey enough to ask). Eventually, he gave in to her Southern charm and shining personality while she realized he was 6' 4''; she couldn't pass up an opportunity like that. Fast-forward to marriage and three beautiful children later, she rerouted her dreams and settled on being a full time trophy wife. Instead of completing her education to be a dental hygienist, she found great happiness and fulfillment in the unglamorous life of motherhood. One of the many things Sarah initially bonded with the Boyer's over was her love of wickedly inappropriate banter. She quickly fell in love with the entire family and has since cemented herself as: The Crazy- No Like She'll Cut You Crazy- Aunt. After experiencing the heavy loss of her two dogs she had had since being a single girl living on her own, Sarah rededicated her love of dogs into co-creating this program with her father-in-law. She mainly runs all social media and communication relations for the business (Hey!). As Maggie's mom she is enthusiastic about this program and the ability it has to change someone's life!

Additional Important Information: Respectfully, you will never see our children in any images, videos, or affiliation with this business. We fiercely value their online privacy and are overly protective parents due to the dangers of the internet. Hence the outdated wedding picture serving as a placeholder until we take a couple's picture without kids.

Dennis and Cara- Dennis was raised on his family's farm in Utah, while Cara grew up in the next town over. They met on a blind date when Cara was in high school and have been together ever since. They have been married for 39 years and have four kids; accompanied by 16 grandkids! Cara adores being a grandma and loves hosting as many family gatherings as possible. She is the heart of her family and is a beloved friend to all that have the pleasure of knowing her. Cara's parents actually designed a state of the art wrist brace, Lion Paw Wrist Support, that Cara now runs and manufactures herself in her home. Originally designed for gymnast, Lion Paw has gained a following with Orthopedic surgeons, NFL football players, and independent consumers alike. If you would like to learn more about her wrist braces visit this link: www.lionpawwristsupport.com.

Dennis grew up working on his parents farm with various animals such as cows, pigs, pigeons, horses, lambs, and chickens to name a few. He even ran their family coal delivery service operation up until his 20's. Dennis went on to work as a lumber jack in Wyoming and then eventually came back home to Utah. Dennis and Cara were married shortly after and he began working for North American Arms for 34 years. He currently works as a rep for a casting manufacturer, Intermountain Precision Casting, here in Utah. In his spare time he loves to work in his garden, both at his house and on his dad's farm, and continues to raise pigs and cows. An avid outdoorsman, you can usually find him hiking, scouting, or going on various wild game excursions. With Dennis' love of the outdoors he knew he would need a companion that could keep up with his active lifestyle. He's owned various breeds before, but he will be the first to tell you his favorite has always been Retrievers or Bernese Mountain Dogs. He's incredibly devoted to his family and is a fixture in his community.

Dennis and Sarah- Dennis saw the same love of dogs that he had after meeting his now daughter-in-law, Sarah, and knew they would make a great team with likeminded goals. Sarah had two Humane Society dogs, Owen and Lucas, that she cherished since before she was married. After 13 years of memories, kids, and an unimaginable love, it became painfully apparent that both dogs quality of life wasn't there. Dennis, being the farmer he is, knew what was in store before Sarah wanted to admit it herself. After much loving discussion between the two families, Sarah agreed to meeting Maggie. It was clear from the moment Dennis and Cara, along with Brandon, Sarah, and their kids, stepped into the room Maggie was THEIR dog. Dennis and Cara adopted Hope and Holly the exact same day. It wouldn't be until months later that Maggie stepped into the role she was destined to play. Owen and Lucas were together their whole lives, and unfortunately/fortunately they passed at the exact same time. Nothing could have prepared Brandon and Sarah for the pain that would come from losing two family members in one day. Gratefully, Dennis had enough forethought to foresee the sadness that would engulf this young family and their small children. Without the presence of Maggie their family would not have been able to get through this tragedy as easily. Maggie was a constant source of comfort and reassurance to not only the kids, but to Brandon and Sarah as well. Seeing Maggie blossomed as a source of comfort for her family, Sarah and Dennis discussed the possibility of continuing her line and creating the same miraculous dog for another deserving family. After endless conversations and weighing all the options, the two family's made the choice to create Wasatch Royal Companions. A family run program at its heart, and a source of happiness for countless others.

So much love, detail, education, time, and resources has been poured into this program and what we want to be recognized for. We take immense pride in what we offer and how we set ourselves apart from various breeders. We have a great relationship with some renown breeders who have been in this industry for years and wish to emulate the likeminded quality of dog they too strive for.

Guardian Homes:

Our dogs are raised in our home, both Dennis and Sarah's as partners, and never at a guardian home. If you are unfamiliar with guardian homes they are essentially a way for a breeder to disperse multiple dogs across various homes, only to bring them back to the breeders home to push out puppies and leave again (multiple times over). That is what we like to call: A Puppy Mill. However, with little to no regulations on these practices, "breeders" can rotate through their rolodex of dogs and not be accountable for knowing firsthand their dog, its temperament, or the quality of life the dog truly lives. Anyone that claims to "know and trust their guardian families" is either lying to you or themselves. This should be a major red flag to any potential owner. You CANNOT possibly know every detail, health issue, or trait about a bitch or sire if they do not reside in your immediate care. We are adament about always being transparent with you and guarantee transparency about our practices. Our entire identity is based upon the reassurance that we are placing a completely healthy and invaluable member of our family with yours. Anyone can breed a dog, but not everyone can provide your family with a healthy, socialized, genetically superior, and good-natured companion like we can. We are not in the business of mass producing puppies, that are often inbred or end up in shelters for various reason. We are in the business of being a source of security, trust, and accountability for you and your dog for years to come.

AKC Registering and Breeding Right:

All puppies will come with limited AKC registration papers. This means your puppy will be registered, but any litters produced from this dog will not be eligible for registration. We currently DO NOT sell breeding rights to any of our puppies, unless you are a vetted and reputable breeder. We have worked extremely hard and closely with our Sire's owner to create lines of high quality and genetically superior Golden Retrievers.
